How is tourism transforming our world?

Devilboy Productions are proud to have worked on some short films that were presented at the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC)’s 17th Global Summit. The event was the flagship global private sector event of the 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. Our team worked on site throughout the production on the films, providing filming, editing and colour grading services. All four videos were showcased at the conference, which is on theme “Transforming our World”.

Transforming Our World in Four Short Films

WTTC commissioned four short films in a series entitled ‘Transforming my World’. The videos were produced by GreenTraveller, and show stories of four individuals from Mexico, India, Ireland and Kenya. The content revolves around how their lives have been transformed in a positive way through tourism. The key purpose of the videos is to demonstrate how tourism helps to drive UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. This links with the WTTC’s theme of “Transforming our World”.

Video 1 – Huber’s story, Magdelena Bay, Mexico

The first story was filmed in Puerto San Carlos, Baja California Sur, México. We hear about Huber’s life and how he went from capturing turtles to protecting them. He is a key participant in the sea turtle conservation program, and he helps to recruit other fishermen into the project.

Video 2 – Evalyn’s story, Masai Mara, Kenya

The second film story takes place in Masai Mara, Kenya. In this film, we meet Evalyn who talks about the challenges of getting an education for women in Kenya and also shares her experiences of being a guide.

Video 3 – Cathleens’s story, The Burren, Ireland

We meet Cathleen in the third film. She lives in the Burren: a region in County Clare, Ireland. Catheen talks about the Burren project, and how it has assisted her community. She describes how the initiative has helped to transform her life.

Video 4 – Krishna’s story, Dharavi, India

The final video was filmed in the slums of Dharavi, India. Krishna, a farmer’s son, left his village in Karnata and moved here. He tells us about life in Dharavi and the founding of Reality Tours.

Transforming our World through Tourism

All four short films show how ordinary people are transforming our world through their actions. Each story has been enabled by the benefits that tourism brings to their part of the world. All four films were premiered at the Global Summit in Bangkok and then shared via social media.
